The Monsters will be headed to Cincinnati near the end of September for the Cincinnati Comic Expo. Here's some of the big stars, comic authors, and props that are going to be there with us, I hope the Monsters don't draw to much attention away from them. When your done getting your autographs and pictures take some time and checkout some great artists and vendors! We are always amazed at the talent level of the people who are at the cons to share their creations with the world.

We recently did a show in Houston Texas, and it was amazing. Pop Shop Houston, organized by Brittany Bly, was an incredible event in the perfect location. The building that housed the event was a warehouse converted into studios for artists with extra gallery rooms to display work. The long, wide hallways were wide enough to house both vendors and patrons alike. We met a lot of great, talented vendors and came away with many friends, and hopefully we'll make our way back again soon. The Meeples formed their own version of The Purple Gang, but focused less on the traditional gang agendas and more on making people smile. These guys did their jobs soooo well, that many of them were adopted by people who just couldn't put them down. We love it when our Monsters find their new homes! Andrea started her own gang of high-flying Luchadores and started holding wresting matches with random people who go to close to the cuteness. The ended up with a winning record but ended up losing members of their team to the fine people of Houston. Win Win!!!
Our next show where our Monsters will be landing is the O.F.F. Market in Cincinnati, OH. We hope to see some of you there. :) There has been much praise lauded upon the Meeples for making it into Stuffed Magazine last year. All the special speaking engagements and talk show appearances have given them a bit of a diva complex. They have been almost uncontrollable as they rule the roost with demands of control over the remote and special orders for toppings on pizza. "Half Supreme, half Hawaiian and half Meeple Lovers." Who does that, and what's a Meeple Lovers pizza anyways? While most of the monsters have willingly gone along with the demands and shenanigans, there is one group that decided to topple the evil empire. What if the Luchadores took their adorable, plucky story to the people of Stuffed and attempted to grace the pages themselves? Could a group of high-flying, mask wearing, almost pro wrestlers be the next big thing in the land of Bearmojo? Could they use their dedication and drive to mold themselves into the greatest thing since sliced bread, aka Meeples? The challenge was accepted and the training began. Grueling workouts and charm classes were followed by raw poly-fil shakes and interview coaching. Then they waited. Months went by, doubt crept in and tears were shed. We gave the guys pep talks assuring them that this was just part of the process. The people of Stuffed received many entries and they had to sift through them all for just the right ones. We told them that they were cute enough, and tough enough, and that the reward would be worth the wait. You see, the Meeples greatness continued to grow in only the way a Meeples mind can let things run out of control. There were weekly viewings of the issue that the Meeples were in. "Someone bring forth the royal text for all to see!" The "Document" was laid out at the feet of the Meeples so they could see their own greatness and tell of their story. The Luchadores were the official carriers of the text, because of their great strength, and they had a plan. They decided that if they got in the magazine they would wait until the next viewing and then spring "Project: Gimme the Remote and I Want Pepperoni." would be set into action. The magazine finally arrived at the house. We snuck the magazine into our workshop and had all the Luchadores gather around to see if they made it. Page after grueling page was turned. Every page turn held the promise of glory and breaths were held in hope and anticipation. Every page turn was a small disappointment and gasp of breath let out. After 89 pages of anticipation hyperventilation the page turn was met with a cheer and laughter. THEY MADE IT!!! The workshop erupted with a celebratory match of colossal proportions. Luchadores were flying every which way, and doing moves that they themselves did not even know they possessed. Try to picture the scene in Flubber where Robin Williams bounces the flubber all over the room, now picture that happening with 17 Luchadores. We quieted them down and then asked them what was "Project: Gimme the Remote and I Want Pepperoni." They said the plan was simple, and devious: 1. Wait until "Royal Document Day". 2. Substitute new Stuffed for old Stuffed. 3. Say "Gimme the remote and I want pepperoni." This plan was simpler then we had anticipated, but it might just work. :) Then the day came. "Bring out the royal documents!" We heard a small giggle as two of the Luchadores walked down the hall with the new Stuffed magazine, we heard the riffling through the pages, we heard the drop of the magazine on the floor in front of the Meeples, and then we heard nothing. There wasn't a sound until one of the Luchadores said "Gimme the remote and I want pepperoni." Their plan left the Meeples speechless and delighted all in attendance. They had pulled off the big upset and dethroned the Meeples in the simplest way possible. The Luchadores promise to not let their new found fame go to their heads, but I guess only time will tell.
We would like to thank the people of Stuffed for including us in their magazine again and look forward to entering another of Bearmojo's creations for the fall issue. We came home from Chicago to find our little Meeples crowded around something, all a flutter with giggles and excitement. We said hello, headed into the bedroom to unpack and get a load of laundry together. Usually when we have been away for a few days the Meeples rush in and tackle us with hugs, and beg us to tell them all the details. Expecting our normal routine we braced ourselves, but then nothing happened. They didn't storm through the hallways, there was no mini stampede of fur and felt and there was no jumping on the bed. What were they doing? We slowly made our way to the living room cautiously preparing for a sneak attack, because the Meeples are so very, very clever, but nothing. They were still standing in the same spot, huddled around and beaming with pride and confidence. I cleared my throat, ever slow subtly, and yet they didn't even know we were there. Andrea and I looked at each other, gave a simultaneous shoulder shrug and then Andrea shouted out her best Donna Noble "Oi, what's goin' on then?" As the Meeples parted, faces still radiant with the pride of a thousand mothers on graduation day, they pointed to the object of their attention. The new STUFFED magazine. An advanced copy had come in the mail while we were away and they had taken it upon themselves to open it. They explained that since they are not from around here the whole "federal offense thingy" about opening other people's mail didn't really scare them, and they couldn't wait until we got home. They flipped through the whole magazine, which is really hard due to the lack of opposable thumbs, until they found the picture of their friends on page 92. That's right ladies and gentlemen, furry and non-furry creatures, we have been featured in the August issue of STUFFED magazine. The Meeples, and Bearmojo, have hit the printed page and cannot wait for you to read all about them. This issue will hit the stands on August 1st, make sure to get a copy before they disappear.
It all started when a Bigfoot stumbled into a Luchadore's practice, and was instantly hooked. And as what usually happens when macho men, and monsters, start to puff up their chests the fun ribbing and jokes turned a little heated and escalated to the point where a challenge was made. Who was the toughest? Who was the better athlete? Who had the right to be called the best of the house? A match was set, tickets were sold and the monsters all showed up. In front of a packed house the bell was rung, and the will of two soldiers were tested. The battle was fierce and lasted for days on end. Who knew that these two athletes were capable of such an amazing feet of endurance. The ballads and songs that have been written about the battle tell of the back and forth momentum and the amazing punishment that these two took. The heroics of these perfectly honed competitors, each fighting for the honor of their brethren, is the stuff that legends are made of. As generations come and go there will always be talk of the two who shook the earth with their power and passion. And as eons pass and ballads turn to whispers there will still be little luchadores and bigfoots that draw strength to battle back and go the distance.
For the play by play please go to https://www.facebook.com/Bearmojo You may have seen them around Indy at many of the shops in the area or even some of the craft shows in the neighborhood. And that is where we met them, at one of the Indieana Handicraft Exchange mini shows. Armed with wooden skewers and a little burner 240Sweet comes well equipped to give you the most amazing flavors of artisan marshmallows that we have ever tasted! But we weren't going to stop at just sampling their marshmallows, oh no, we needed the behind the scenes, the up close and personal. Then we found out that they have a marshmallow making class, and they were even silly enough to let us in! Sam told the group a little bit about how they got started making marshmallows and then the best part: SAMPLING!!! We sampled 3 different flavors of marshmallows, toasted lightly, while we watched Chef Alexa create a fresh batch of Dill Pickle Marshmallows (they were so ooey gooey delicious)! And we did not leave empty handed! We finished off the class by cutting and packaging a bag of marshmallows for the road, as you can see we stocked up on sweet deliciousness while we were there! So check out their goods and if you're ever in the neighborhood of 240Sweet in Columbus, IN maybe you'll be lucky enough to sample a few fresh marshmallows yourself! Love guns, who needs a love gun? Everyone, of course! Cupid is so five minutes ago and this love gun is hot, hot, hot and cuddly. Use it to make that dreamboat fall in love with you, or to lay waste to the cheesy Valentine aisle at your local mega mart or just use it to lay down your sleepy little head. This love gun is hand crafted with soft fleece and special attention to all the lovely details. There is only one of its kind, we couldn't possibly bring that much power into the world, so get it before its gone! https://www.etsy.com/listing/121362173/love-ray-gun It all started around New Year's Eve. We had been hearing some creaky floorboards and things that go bump in the night, but we thought it was just our monsters up to no good. Oh, how we were wrong! One morning we woke to see that our excellent house protection system (aka the monsters) had captured not one, not two, but NINE chubby little ninjas! Who knows how long they had been sneaking around our house unnoticed! Well, we gave them a strict talking to and a fancy makeover and we are ready to send them back out into the world... if we could only find them again! We've decided to have a Facebook giveaway on New Year's Day!
